Potential for Major Tonnage

There is compelling evidence that Placer under-estimated the average grades of the copper mineralization at the Moonlight Deposit, where the historical resource contained an estimated 180 million tons of copper, averaging 0.39% copper*. This only represents a core or base resource inventory as the deposit still remains “open” (continuous) at depth and along “strike” (the lateral axis of the mineralization).

*(Please note that this historic resource estimate is now outdated and is not compliant with Canadian federal government National Instrument 43-101 guidelines for a defined resource or reserve. In other words, it is only to be used for reference purposes).

Placer’s use of then standard drilling techniques inferior to those commonly used decades later on an industry-wide basis are largely responsible for an under-estimation of the deposit’s grade distribution.

Hence, Sheffield’s re-evaluation of Placer’s extensive geological database suggests that a world-class deposit may be on the offing – one that may yet prove to be as much as double the size of Placer’s estimates for the Moonlight Deposit. Specifically, Sheffield is targeting a sulphide resource of up to 400 million tonnes or better for the Moonlight Project area.

Additionally, the silver and gold that also co-exist with the copper at the Moonlight Deposit were net universally assayed by Placer. (By way of explanation, neither gold nor silver in amounts commonly found in porphyry copper deposits had much economic impact of porphyry copper deposit economics during the 1960’s).  These mineral credits therefore were not factored into Placer’s economic valuation of the deposit.
